Raster Data is a Content type that represents a gridded spatial dataset as a matrix of pixels. Each pixel contains a value or color corresponding to information such as elevation, reflectance, magnetic intensity, or mapped geology.

Rasters can be displayed as planes in the 3D workspace or projected onto other content. This makes them useful for combining maps, imagery, and geophysical results with a 3D geological model.

Importing Raster Data

Import raster files through the Data Import Wizard. See Import Formats for supported raster formats, availability, and import requirements.

Working With Rasters

The Raster Inspector provides the raster-specific controls:

• Raster: Horizontal Extent positions and sizes the raster on the XY plane.
• Raster: Show Mesh controls whether the raster plane is visible.
• Raster: Project Onto Content projects the raster onto compatible content and provides projection depth and opacity controls.

Raster projection remains active independently of the raster plane's visibility. Transparent areas in imported PNG files also remain transparent when projected.
