Annotations in LiquidEarth represent a critical set of features that allow users to add their own text, markers, sketches, and more to spaces and data. They serve three main purposes:
- User Productivity: Annotations help users capture their thoughts, ideas, interpretations, and results. They serve as an aid for remembering crucial details and streamlining the process of data exploration.
- Collaboration & Communication: Annotations play a significant role in both real-time and asynchronous collaboration between users. They act as a medium for sharing insights directly related to the data, helping to foster understanding and smooth communication in team-based projects.
- Presentation: Annotations can be used to present work progress and results in an engaging and easily understandable way. View Blocks in particular can be used in combination with Public Sharing Link to invite externals to a project and show them exactly what you want them to see.
In terms of functionality, annotations are realized in LiquidEarth through the Block feature. The currently available Annotation Blocks are:
- Note Block: For textual notes and comments.
- Callout Block: To draw attention to specific points or features.
- View Block: To store and recall specific points of view.
- Sketch Block: For drawing and marking in the 3D workspace and on data.
